I've been looking for this photo! Finally found it on one of my USB sticks from university. It's the footpath along Burwood Highway between Belgrave and Tecoma. The lighting was pretty that day.

Must have taken it around 2009 when I was working at Video Defaulters doing data entry. I used to walk to the shops to get lunch. Some days I would take my camera to snap things for assignments.

I dug through my livejournal searching for old photos from 2006. Apparently I don't really take normal photos of myself unless I've dyed my hair. All the rest of my photos are usually cosplay. XD

So I did a cosplay comparison set too.

unikorn: (shock)

  • Hamilton Island holiday in Feb

  • Supanova Sydney

  • SMASH!

  • Animaga

  • AMC - used to be Armageddon (went as Haruka from Free!)

  • Supanova Brisbane

All of these were for work aside from AMC. I was going to go to OzComicCon with Ethan too but I got sick that weekend.
Didn't really cosplay much at the cons I worked at aside from wearing kigurumi's or as Haruka.

New Years Resolutions

  • The usual creative pledges for sewing, photography and drawing.

  • Fix my website and try to get more freelance work.

Last saturday Ethan and I had a formal dinner to go to. Unfortunaley my friends were having a Halloween party on the same night and I would have rathered gone to that. But Ethan already bought the tickets for this formal ages ago and they were kinda expensive.

I went out and bought a new formal dress for $119 at Knox because well... I wanted a new one. I did recently buy a new dress for Chezzies wedding but I feel like you can't wear the same thing to events that are close together. XD

The food was alright, there was vegetarian stuff already pre-ordered for me. The drinks were free but they didn't have any muscato wine! I was driving home anyways, so I only had 2 drinks with dinner. There was a tonne of chocolates/lollies for dessert and I pinched the leftovers to take home.

I pinched some of the preview images from the photographers site. We did order a big print of the full body image. So I will scan that when we get it.

Got back from Japan on Tuesday (Cup Day) this week. Was pretty exhausted after spending around 24 hours in transit. Delayed connecting flight held us up a bit.

Went straight back to work yesterday. My brain is still on holidays a little bit. I think I was just tired from sleep debt.

So far I've only processed the photos from Universal Studios Osaka and One Piece Tokyo Tower. There's a lot to do and it's going to take me a few weeks to get them all done.

Yesterday I went to Olinda Falls with Neil and Ethan. It was forecasted to rain but luckily the weather held out all afternoon and didn't rain until evening!

I wanted to try out some nature photography and Neil is always up for some photo hangouts and suggested we go to the falls in a recent discussion. So Ethan and I headed up to Neil's house on saturday afternoon, picked him up and then we all went to Olinda from there.

It's just a short walk from the car park to the falls but the path is a bit steep. Neil and I happily took photos while Ethan climbed around the rocks.

I tried out some 1 second exposures to get a fluffy water effect. I've been wanting to try out long exposures on water for a while.

On the way back to Neils house we briefly stopped off at the National Rhododendron Garden. They were closing up so we couldn't spend much time there. But since it's spring, the colors of the flowers were quite amazing to take a peek at!

We hung out at Neils house for some time afterwards and discussed some ideas for another photoshoot. Planning on doing some light painting in the future. Now that the weather is much nicer I feel more inspired to go outside!

On the long weekend I also did a photoshoot for my Usagi cosplay. It has been ages since I caught up with Neil and we had a nice afternoon in the Berwick botanical park.

You can see more of the photos here ~ http://neilcreek.smugmug.com/Costuming/Jodie-Sailor-Moon-150402/

It was a windy day and my wig is rather frizzy now, I think I need to pull it all apart again and reposition the buns and give the pony tails a good brush. Taking care of long wigs is such a hassle. I have a feeling the curls in the ponytails aren't going to like being brushed, might need to do some tutorial research on better care for curls.

There was an eclipse two nights ago, so I had a go at photographing it. I still only have a very average zoom lens that came with my camera, so it isn't the best for night photos or celestial bodies. But anyways, cropping down the photo gives an ok result. I also used my intervelometer as a remote trigger to try and reduce camera shake for the longer exposures. I probably took around 50 photos just to make sure I had 1 decent image.

So I casually posted a photo of myself from Hamilton Island to my instagram account. Tagged it with #livingdeadclothing since that's the swimsuit brand I'm wearing.
The official account for Living Dead Clothing regrammed my photo to their account and now it has 400+ likes. I'm a little embarrassed haha.

Even though I had a large hatred for Instagram and the incessant selfie/food picture blogging riddled with filters trend.... I seem to be using it a lot. Simply because the app makes it very easy to cross post an image to facebook/twitter/tumblr as well. And I just want to share photographs. Lately I've been downloading my high quality photos from my smugmug and posting them, in the hopes that people will have a look at my galleries and enjoy my photos.

Anyways, if you'd like to follow me on instagram, my account is here ~ https://instagram.com/usagikorn

Got home yesterday from my holiday. We almost got stuck there because of a big storm. The plane coming in from Melbourne to Hamilton Island had to circle for about 2 hours before it could land. Which of course delayed our flight back to Melbourne. The Sydney flight before us actually did get cancelled. XD

Anyways, we arrived last saturday and the hotel staff met us at the airport and drove us bag to the hotel. They retrieved our check in luggage for us and took it to our room. Ahhh service! While we were checking in, we got some nice juice and cupcakes. We had some lunch at the hotel restaurant and then booked a few things to do for the next few days. On the first day we had a look at the shops and went in the pool/beach and to Romano's for dinner, which had an amazing dessert platter.

On sunday we went and had breakfast with the Koalas, looked at the little animal zoo and then went Parasailing! I was a little bit scared but it was such an amazing view! After that we came back and got our photo with a Koala. We went to Mariners for dinner and had this amazing chocolate flavoured martini!

On monday we went to the day spa and got awesome massages. In the afternoon we did some snorkelling in the shallow beach near the resort and in the evening we went on a sunset dinner cruise.

On tuesday we took a scenic sea plane flight over the great barrier reef and then went snorkelling out in the ocean around the reef. I was glad I'd had a "practice" the day before. We went to Coca Chu for dinner and this massive thunderstorm hit the island, we could see all the lightening through the window. We got back to our hotel room and the fire alarm was bugging out and they had to call an electrician to fix it. The problem was the same for a few other guest rooms too.

On wednesday morning we went on a boat to whithaven beach. In the afternoon we enjoyed the beach and then went to Romano's for dinner for a second time because I wanted the yummy panna cotta for dessert XD

Ethan and I booked a holiday last night! We are going to the Whitsundays in Queensland and staying at a super nice place called Beach Club. It's expensive but Ethan seems to have ritzy tastes and I just couldn't talk him down to something less, haha. Also I just generally wanted to go to Queensland and Ethan was set on Whitehaven beach. I told him that if he wanted to go somewhere so pricey that he's going to have to cop a little bit more of the price than me because it was blowing out my budget.....and eventually he agreed to it. *score* I'm going next month in January. Really excited to go away and enjoy the beach, some sites and spend time with Ethan.

Yesterday I went to Chadstone. I had a $20 still left over from last year that expires in a few days. So I bought an Ariel nightie from Peter Jackson. I swear I've lusted over the stuff in that shop a million times but never been able to get over the price hurdle (I'm such a cheapskate!). Lucky for me they also had 20% off yesterday, so after taking that off and the voucher, it only cost me $35. A few weeks ago I bought Cinderella PJ's set from Target for $30, so I'm gaining a Disney range here XD

As I am unable to dress like a normal adult, my shopping trip was spent sporting a Free! tshirt. And every store clerk that engaged in conversation with me talked about anime. I feel really pleased that so many people recognize what anime is now.

I was intending to get some Christmas shopping done but all I got was some nice tins with chocolate in them. I may resort to getting some gift vouchers or a booklet of movie tickets for the rest of the people I need to buy for if I can't find something specific in my price range. Gotta stick to a budget now that there's a holiday on the horizon!

Finally got to see Ethan today after months of him being away for work. We went out for lunch to Lobster Cave. It's this restaurant that Ethan loves but I'd never been there, it was ok but I didn't think it was anything amazing. I drank a bit too much wine and felt a little sick, so I couldn't finish my dessert. Suddenly I couldn't handle anything with a lot of flavour in it. I think it was a bit too hot inside the restaurant because once I was in the car with the aircon for a while I didn't feel so sick...or maybe I just needed some time to let everything settle.

After lunch we went back to Ethans and he pretty much had to go straight to the airport. Unfortunately Ethan has to go back to Darwin for another 2 weeks but then the job is done and we can hang out again like normal. It was a little sucky only getting to see him for like half a day because I was in Brisbane for the weekend to work at Supanova.

Supanova was good, we sold lots of stuff. Got to see 2 movies while I was up there, Hunger Games Mockinjay Part 1 and Interstallar. Also got to eat the amazingest creme brulee again. Last year at the casino we went into a place called Fat Noodle and had Jasmine Tea Creme Brulee and it was so delicious we ordered seconds. This year, they had Coconut Creme Brulee and it did no disappoint! Yummmm.

On the day we arrived in Brisbane there was this freak hail storm. At the time we were inside the mall and could hear the rain on the roof and heard thunder. We walked to the entrance and could see the crazy rain and hail. The roof started leaking in the supermarket and many other stores were flooded out.  The walkway outside was a massive puddle of ice slush. The hailstones were huge and knocked off a lot of the christmas baubles, which were floating down the walkway turned river.

Flooding on the bridge.

Some massive hailstones.

After setting up at the convention, we went to another Supermarket and they had a blackout. We had to shop in the dark, one of the store people led us around with a torch. We also used our torch phone apps to see.

The Treasury Casino is where Fat Noodle and Kitchen are. We usually end up here for food when we get out of the convention late because nothing else is open.

Still feel a bit yuk after having the PAX Plague all week. It's mostly just a head cold but I haven't been eating much because I feel nauseous too, It would be nice if I lost some of those winter kilos! I meant to buy some fresh fruit at the supermarket but I forgot and only got some peaches in a jar to put on my cereal. I gotta stop snacking on so much chocolate. Hurrr. So pudgy O_o

Here's my photos from PAX!

I also took some videos of the Omegathon Final and a small clip of some cosplayers dancing to Let It Go on Just Dance XD

I took these photos on the weekend of my Sword Art Online Nendoroids. It was a nice sunny spring weekend, perfect for photography.

Despite I hated that Asuna spent all of the Elfheim arc trapped in that cage, it makes a really nice figure prop, so I couldn't resist getting the Titania version nendo. I got her only a few weeks ago but I've had Kirito for ages now. I was hoping the Elf version of Kirito would get a nendoroid too but it doesn't look to be happening any time soon. They might just jump onto Trap!Kirito from the Gungale arc instead. Who knows!? I'd also like the Undine version of Asuna to get a nendo.
